THE BRIEF

The University of Reading recently invested over £40 million into the redevelopment and refurbishment of the library in order to increase space for individual study to make better use of the areas on the Ground and 1st Floors.

Langley Design worked in collaboration with ISG to supply, deliver and install bespoke cycle shelters. Our flexible and bespoke manufacturing abilities enabled us to combine three design elements into the first unit.

WHAT WE DID

Secured cycle storage

Firstly, a covered area which acts as a smoking shelter was combined onto the back of a fully secured cycle storage area. This was achieved with timber cladding which not only improves the aesthetics of the unit but offers vital secure cycle parking for the site.

THE RESULT

The final element is a further covered area to store bikes under. The second unit was somewhat unusual in appearance, this is because it was based on a facetted curved design by the architect.

The unit follows the path line and ties in beautifully with the other landscaped areas. Langley Design have vast experience in creating bespoke products and were delighted to be chosen to work on this project.
