Timber

Utilised throughout our street furniture, Langley Design offer a range of timber options and treatments to achieve the finish and aesthetic you require. Sourced from sustainable FSC or PEFC managed forests. Click through to find out more about the timber treatments and different types of wood we use in our products.

Treated European Redwood – TRC4

The Class 4 Treated European Redwood (TRC4) is our standard timber for manufacturing, pressure treated for a lifespan in excess of 15 years. It provides a reliable wood that offers maximum durability when the material comes in contact with the ground. All the European Redwood we provide is PEFC certified.

Treated European Redwood – TRC4-DO

Our standard Class 4 Treated European Redwood (TRC4) with a Dark Oak stain applied. Offering a different visual appeal this provides the more premium look associated with a hardwood without the additional cost.

Treated European Redwood – TRC3

The Class 3 Treated European Redwood (TRC3) is pressure treated to a level where it is suitable for external use, above ground for a lifespan in excess of 15 years. The treatment used has a clear finish. All the European Redwood we provide is PEFC certified.

Treated European Redwood – TRC3-DO

Our standard Class 3 Treated European Redwood (TRC3) with a Dark Oak stain applied. Offering a different visual appeal this provides the more premium look associated with a hardwood without the additional cost.

Hardwood Iroko – HI

Hardwood Iroko timber is a naturally durable material and is exceptionally strong, perfect for areas of high usage where its hard wearing finish and premium look will ensure a long lifespan. All our Hardwood Iroko is coated with an UV protection oil to bring out the colour and grain patterns of the material. All the hardwood we provide is FSC certified.

Steel

Robust and long lasting, Langley Design products utilise steel elements in a range of finishes to suit your needs. From a simple galvanised only finish, to powder coated to a specific RAL colour to match other project elements. Click through to find out more about the steel finishes we use in our products.

Galvanised Steel – GL

Hot dipped galvanised steel has a protective zinc coating to prevent the steel from rusting. Forming a coating of corrosion-resistant zinc which stops corrosive substances from penetrating through to the more delicate steel beneath. As a minimum standard all our steel products have 75µm galvanised finished to BS EN ISO 1461. To review corrosion rates for your project area visit the Galvanisers Association.

Powder Coated – GPC

Once the steel has been galvanised it can be left with this durable finish, but it can also be powder coated to match your project’s specific colour scheme. Most of the steel frameworks and products we provide can be powder coated to any colour, for example to a supplied RAL reference.

Stainless Steel – SS

Stainless steel is not prone to rust, corrode or stain as mild steel does. We provide two different grades of stainless steel to suit the environment the steel is exposed to. Marine Grade 316 (SS-316) has added molybdenum (2%) to help resist corrosion to chlorides (like sea water and de-icing salts). Whereas the standard 304 (SS-304) contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

Zinc & Powder Coated – ZPC

Zintec steel sheet is a metal plate that has been electrolytically coated with a thin layer of Zinc, and offers good structural integrity and protection to varying weather conditions. Our Zintec Powder Coated Steel planters offer the perfect balance of strength, longevity, and design sophistication. The Zintec steel undergoes a meticulous powder coating process, forming an additional protective barrier against corrosion and rust. This ensures your planters maintain their pristine appearance even in challenging climates, making them ideal for urban landscapes.

Recycled Plastic

Manufactured from cleaned and recycled silage wrap collected from working fields across the UK, recycled plastic pellets are then extruded into various shapes and lengths ready to be transformed into long lasting and low maintenance street furniture. Recycled Plastic – RP

Recycled plastic is a great alternative to timber, it does not degrade and requires little to no maintenance, so is perfect for the external environment. We have a selection of colours available that can be utilised on many of our products such as planters, benching and seating, picnic tables, litter bins, and as an alternative to our standard timber cladding on enclosed cycle stores and bin stores

Concrete

Concrete is a hardwearing and strong material that will last a lifetime. Precast concrete can be manufactured into various shapes and forms to suit your project’s specification, with a variety of colours and finishes available. Acid Etched Finish – AEF

Deluxe Polish – DP

A Deluxe Polish Finish (applied to the top of the unit only) is a process which applies a smooth finish to the concrete and exposes the aggregate underneath the surface. It can be used to show the different colours of aggregate within the concrete to great aesthetic effect.

Anti Graffiti Coating

An anti-graffiti coating is a hydrophobic pore lining impregnator. It works by modifying the surface properties of the pores within the concrete and the external surfaces.It provides efficient protection for more than 15 years, can be used on vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces and is non-hazardous and non-toxic.

Concrete Colours

Our standard colours are light or standard grey, buff, white, black or red but we can also customise any of the mixes or create a new one to meet your project requirements. The standard concrete we produce is integrally coloured so the colour is the same throughout the product. This proves crucial in the event that a unit is damaged or chipped after being placed as the colour of the underlying material would not differ from the surface colour.
