THE BRIEF

To help ease congestion on the busy North London line, Hackney Central Station has undergone a £3 million re-development to open a new entrance to the public. The second access is a response to the growing popularity of London Overground services in Hackney, which saw passenger numbers rise by around 10 percent in the two years prior to the Covid 19 pandemic. The new entrance provides more direct access to the Town Centre and allows a simpler interchange with Hackney Downs Station and the local bus services.

Langley Design worked with AG Surveying and the KN Group to provide the bespoke entrance pergola to both the architects and client aspirations. Using our in-house design team, we created a striking structure to the main entrance that works cohesively with the rest of the scheme.

WHAT WE DID

Easy access route

The main frame utilises galvanised and powder-coated steels to create a wide-spanning entrance area, allowing an easy access route for the busy London crowds. The use of FSC Hardwood Iroko rafters to the front section of the structure softens the design and harmonises with the sustainable timber and green walls used elsewhere on the project.

Offering a range of Street Furniture products, including benches, seats, cycle shelters, bin stores and canopies, Langley Design supply, deliver and install across the UK to a wide range of customers and sectors. If you have a requirement for a current or future project don’t hesitate to give our experienced sales team a call.
