Hard wearing products

This innovative scheme combined a health centre and primary school development in South London. The products used were selected for their hard wearing properties and to enhance the visual appeal of the external areas.

Shopping development upgrade

As part of an upgrade to this existing shopping development, we were asked by the architect to come up with a solution to provide a seating facility for high volumes of shoppers.

No foundations required

Our Sheldon Bench (SBN335) with FSC Hardwood Iroko slats and grey granite plinth mounts was the ideal solution as these can be quickly installed to existing finished grade with no foundations required. This saved significantly on cost and importantly avoided closure of the area when the work took place as the installation was completed out of hours.

Bespoke rooftop pergolas

Holbrook House is a new student accommodation development in North Acton, London.

Langley Design were delighted to work with PCS Ltd on this project to manufacture and install 2 bespoke pergolas to the roof top terraces.

Striking and visually impressive

A brand new product was created which has now been added to our Sheldon Range for other customers to enjoy! By combining timber and galvanised powder-coated steel, the structure looks striking and visually impressive.

THE BRIEF

External picnic tables

Emanuel School is an independent, co-educational school for pupils aged 10 to 18 located in Battersea, South West London. Langley Design were tasked with providing the school with a range of external picnic tables that could offer the students a place to eat, socialise and work from.

We adapted our popular SPT317 picnic tables (which are traditionally provided in Timber or Recycled Plastic) to be manufactured using millboard decking.

Hand-moulded material

This is hand-moulded from natural timbers in a unique combination of resin and mineral stone and is almost indistinguishable from real wood yet designed to outperform it. By combining this material with the galvanised and powder coated metal frame we were able to produce our SPT317 unit in a modern and stylish design. The school were delighted with the result and we look forward to working with them again over the coming years.

THE BRIEF

Seating and dining facilities

Merchant Square is an 11 acre mixed use Estate in London’s West End that is currently occupied by nearly 10,000 workers and residents. Langley Design were approached by JLL as they had a requirement for seating and dining facilities.

Our popular Sheldon picnic tables and benches were chosen for this project and were manufactured using Hardwood Iroko timber with galvanised metal frames.

THE BRIEF

Pre cast concrete benching

Langley Design were chosen by McLaughlin & Harvey to provide a whole range of pre cast concrete benching to the new mixed-use development regeneration of Elms Field in Wokingham Town Centre.

As a bespoke manufacturer we were able to match the architect’s design vision to create a mix of shapes and sizes such as cubes, curves and L Shaped benches.

Anti-graffiti coating

Due to the town centre location, all concrete was made with an anti-graffiti coating which enables these units to be practically self-cleaning. Hardwood Iroko slats were chosen to timber top the benches due to its excellent durability and high-quality finish.

An eye catching development had a need for benching that the office staff could use for relaxation on their break times.

The scheme design required curved benches, (our Sheldon SBN307 was ideal), available in any length or radius.

Coombe Wood School, Croydon

THE BRIEF

Outdoor street furniture solutions

Coombe Wood School is a comprehensive, mixed secondary school for children aged between 11 and 18 in Croydon. We worked with Wates on this £30 million project to provide a range of street furniture products to complement the newly landscaped areas.

We manufactured a whole host of our own range of products here. The Timber cycle shelter was created in a way that covers two runs of cycle hoops under one roof, this allows for more bikes to be covered which acts as a fantastic incentive to get kids cycling to school.

Striking central courtyard feature

For the courtyard area, Langley Design provided a large timber pergola to add a striking central structure to the outside space where the children can congregate under to socialise, play, eat and learn. Our recycled plastic plinth mounted benches were chosen due to the longevity of the material.

THE RESULT

Low maintenance products

The recycled plastic requires no maintenance and will continue to look as good as new in many years to come. It will last the lifetime of the project.

Both the school and contractor were so pleased with our products that they have ordered another cycle shelter due for installation later this year.

Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre, Hornchurch

THE BRIEF

Outdoor seating for leisure centre

Langley Design were pleased to work with Metnor Construction for the first time on Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre, a £20.5 million leisure facility in Hornchurch offering new swimming facilities in addition to a health & fitness suite, sports hall and exercise studio.

We supplied a number of bespoke concrete benches, in both straight and curved arrangements. This included a large curved planter bench with a buff textured finish to provide seating for the visitors.

The durable and modular pre-cast concrete is available in a range of colours and finishes to match the client’s specific site requirements.

These can also be provided with anti-graffiti coating or anti-skate studs for public realm areas, offering additional protection to this long lasting and modern looking product.

THE BRIEF

Rooftop garden furniture

Langley Design worked with Berkeley Group on this £30 million project to put forward a range of external furniture products for the resident’s rooftop garden.

These included powder coated timber benches, timber cube seats and litter containers all stained in a dark oak finish to match throughout.
