Leigh Academy Blackheath, London
In November 2020, Bouygues UK handed over Leigh Academy Blackheath, marking the end of a 21-month project to deliver a new Secondary School for the local community in Blackheath, south London. Now located just a stone’s throw away from Greenwich Park, this flagship development will welcome 1,150 pupils and 115 staff, when running at full capacity in 2023. The project was not without its challenges. Bouygues UK’s team on site had to navigate working in a new Covid environment which forced site closure for nearly five weeks, as well as significant disruptions to supply chain. Yet despite the odds, the school was handed over on time, to a client who is entirely satisfied with the quality and functionality of their new buildings. Bouygues succeeded in achieving BREEAM 2014 Excellent and delivered the project to BIM Level 2.
Langley Design’s expertise was once again called upon to deliver high quality, structurally sound and aesthetically pleasing cycle stores for the project. Encouraging children to exercise and using sustainably sourced materials is a win on both counts with these stunning shelters, secured, covered parking which blends beautifully into the landscapes. The double width PEFC certified timber units allow 100’s of bikes to be stored catering for the whole school. We also utilised our bespoke manufacturing capabilities by producing a bespoke bin store to keep the unsightly units out of view whilst providing lockable bin storage. Installed by our own teams providing a one stop shop for Bouygues to deliver their project on time.Download Project Case Study
