Kidbrooke Park Primary School, London
Langley Design teamed up with Galliford Try, one of our many repeat customers, on this £15 million Primary School project. Kidbrooke Park allows 446 pupils access to state-of-the-art facilities with an additional Behaviour Support Unit to cater for every child’s needs. The new school, located on a formerly overgrown field, also provided extensive community facilities, this included a multi-use games area and changing facilities, available for use by the whole community out of school hours.
The hard play area centred around a statement making bespoke cantilevered tensile canopy. Designed to fit exactly over the amphitheatre seating area, the stunning canopy ensures the pupils can be sheltered from the sun glare whilst enjoying some down time in between classes. Available with a powder coated finish and with a range of colour options for the tensile material, we can cater to any project specific colour scheme. Using our in-house design capabilities, we created and installed two timber podiums to provide a flat surface around the varying levels of the surrounding area, this gave the school additional seating space and a social area for all the children to utilise and enjoy. The timber podiums built from treated spruce sleepers and topped with anti-slip timber decking slats, featured bespoke cut-outs to allow space for new trees which will provide further
shade to the pupils in the many years to come.
