University of Birmingham
Langley Design were delighted to work with Willmott Dixon on the University of Birmingham’s new Teaching & Learning Building project. The ‘state-of-the-art’ new learning centre, which is situated next to the Library, began construction in May 2019 and was allocated a budget of £22 million by the University. The new design was aimed to bring another modern aspect to the University’s campus.
Langley Design were chosen by Willmott Dixon to bring BDP’s beautifully designed landscaped areas to life. As the leading provider of sedum roofed timber cycle/bin shelters in the UK, Langley Design were able to design, manufacture and install bespoke cycle parking and secure bin store solutions for the university. Sedum roofs add that extra touch of class to any project and the combination of the sedum alongside the Hardwood Iroko gives a premium finish to the outdoor areas. Utilising our bespoke manufacturing capabilities, we were able to create the architects vision of having moveable planters and benches in a range of irregular shapes and sizes which can be repositioned elsewhere when the university requires additional space.
