School of Architecture, Wolverhampton
The School of Architecture and Built Environment was procured through the first iteration of Pagabos Major Works framework and represents the latest addition to the University of Wolverhampton’s £100m investment in a new construction excellence campus at the former brewery. The site of the former Springfield brewery has been transformed into Europe’s largest specialist construction and built environment campus, bringing together businesses and the education sector to maximise impact on the economy. It now acts as a catalyst for economic and social regeneration, tailored to creating jobs and delivering the technical and professional experts required by the industry.
Back in 2020 Langley Design were appointed by ISG to design and install a bespoke timber cycle store to compliment this incredible new development. The unit itself was manufactured in a way that allowed light to come through both the roof and the cladding to ensure the bikes were visible, yet with the addition of the digilock the unit was fully secure, allowing all user groups peace of mind that their bikes were secured and covered from the elements. The Timber finish gives a traditional feel, which points to the heritage of the building whilst still working artistically against the modern building.
