Moberly House, University of Exeter
Moberly House was a student residence built in 1966 and no longer met the expectations of students for modern accommodation. This has now been replaced with a high-quality, modern development with 251 bedrooms, helping to fulfil the growing demand from their students for on-campus accommodation at the Streatham Campus.
Langley Design worked with Vinci Construction to create a Cycle and Bin storage area around the new brick-built structure. Using our bespoke manufacturing and design capabilities we clad the buildings to give a modern hit & miss timber finish to update the surrounding in line with the new accommodation. This gave the Cycle and Bin Store an attractive natural aesthetic softening the harder look of the main structure and help blend the store into the surrounding greenery. As a specialist in the Education sector and having worked on a number of large University projects, Langley went on to work with Vinci on the Spreytonway and East Park developments for the Exeter University. Utilizing the same style and palette of materials throughout the street furniture package ensured that all the new university developments had a cohesive feel and look.
