Lady Manners, Derbyshire
Lady Manners School, founded in 1636, has been in its current site for the last 85 years overlooking Bakewell in the heart of the
Peak District. There are currently more than 1300 students studying in this rapidly expanding Secondary School.
Langley Design were approached by the School to design, manufacture and install a new external canopy. Using our popular Sheldon Canopy SPG323 and made from a Class 4 Treated Redwood this unit can achieve a large clear span without the use of internal legs. The use of a 16mm clear polycarbonate roof ensures sufficient light transmission while protecting the students from the elements. The growing need for external covered areas in the school environment is becoming a priority for a number of reasons. As the result of the Covid pandemic there has been a push to avoid overfilling classrooms, and our Sheldon canopy systems offer a much needed multipurpose outdoor space in a cost effective and visually appealing design, providing areas for learning, dining & socialising and play. Being able to get children out of the classroom and into the outdoors helps to support their mental and physical wellbeing and offers further ways to develop their learning whilst at school.
Langley Design offer a range of outdoor canopies solutions that can be modified and manufactured exactly to a school’s individual requirements in a range of materials, finishes and roofing options to meet their available budgets.
