Harris Sixth Form Academy, Clapham
Langley Design worked with Kier and Wynne Williams architects to provide external furniture solutions to the new building at Harris Academy Sixth Form in Clapham. The new 5,250m² four-story building accommodates 600 pupils and will have a range of state-of-the-art facilities including a newly landscaped outdoor area for Students. Using our bespoke manufacturing capabilities we created an outdoor amphitheatre seating area for the students using timber topped gabion structures. These units were made to maximise the seating area available by using continuous benches that follow the external perimeter and can have multifunctional uses as seating, dining and as an outdoor classroom. Another benefit to Langley Design’s flexible approach to manufacture saw picnic tables and planter benches utilised on the roof terrace. Additionally to this we provided plinth mounted benches, planters and cycle parking, all manufactured in Class 4 Treated Redwood material to create a cohesive aesthetic throughout the landscaped areas. The cycle shelters were designed to an increased height to allow for high rise cycle racks, providing high-density of cycle parking to a restricted area.
